The loose tea is placed in the cup and hot water is poured over it. With the lid closed, the tea can steep. Then the cup is placed horizontally in the bowl with the lid closed (air hole facing upwards) so that the tea can flow through the grooves into the bowl without taking the tea leaves with it.
With the lid closed, the tea leaves remain warm and do not lose their aroma, so that several infusions can be enjoyed as desired.
