Let us take you into the diverse world of tea…

As diverse as the tastes are, so is the range of teas. Whether enjoyed hot or cold, tea connoisseurs appreciate our rich selection: From black tea from India’s well-known growing regions such as Darjeeling, Assam or Nilgiri to Chinese black tea, Oolong from Sri Lanka to green tea from China, Japan and Korea, jasmine tea, white and yellow tea. In addition, we offer rooibos tea from South Africa, domestic herbal teas and various fruit teas as well as mate with matching accessories. Whether as loose-leaf tea or teabags, here you will find everything your (tea) heart desires.

The agony of choice

Before we include a tea in our assortment, we taste it and assess whether the quality meets our requirements and if it enriches our assortment. Organic certification and fair trade also play an important role in the decision. Through our tea suppliers, we are in direct contact with the tea farmers or tea plantation owners. Carefully picked at various harvest times in the known tea gardens, meticulously sorted and fermented, each plucking is precisely marked and sealed for transport. This means that it is always possible to trace where the tea comes from and when it was harvested and processed.

The right preparation for optimal enjoyment

To get the maximum flavor and aroma from tea leaves, there are a few simple rules you should follow. Use a teapot made of porcelain, glass, earthenware or cast iron that is enameled on the inside. About 12 grams of tea leaves to a liter of water, or 1.5 to 2 grams (about 1 teaspoon) per cup, are poured over fresh water that has barely reached the boiling point. For green tea and white tea, we recommend a water temperature of below 80°C. The tea leaves are left to steep open in the water so that they can fully develop their flavour. After the recommended infusion time, the tea is strained into the preheated pot. For fine-grained teas, we recommend a tea net or tea filter bag.

Since detergent can settle in the pores of open-pored teapots and may be affecting the taste of the tea, it is best to clean your teapot with water only.

Storage

Except for the fruit and herbal teas, we deliver the tea in special three-layer bags, in which you can safely store the tea for half a year. To protect the flavors and ingredients, it is best to store the tea in a cool, dark and dry place. An airtight tea tin is not only decorative, but also smart. Basically, tea does not “go bad”, it can be consumed beyond the expiration date, it just loses flavor and valuable ingredients.
