Papua New Guinea Grade A Okapa comes from the Okapa region in the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea. This remote highland area is shaped by cool temperatures, fertile volcanic soils and growing altitudes of around 1,800 to 2,200 metres above sea level. In this environment, the coffee cherries ripen slowly and develop a particularly clean, complex flavour profile.
The focus lies on transparency, careful processing and the most direct possible value creation from farmer to export preparation.
The Arabica varieties Bourbon, Caturra and Mundo Novo are cultivated here. After harvesting, the coffee is washed and then sun dried. This classic processing method enhances the clarity in the cup and brings out the coffee’s fine structure beautifully.
Papua New Guinea Grade A Okapa stands out with a clean, well structured cup profile. Notes of cocoa, dried apricot and raisin combine with mild spice and pleasant sweetness. A balanced, complex coffee with a distinctive character and an elegant, long lasting aftertaste.
