This Arabica coffee speciality is made according to the honey-processed method, i.e. the pulp of the coffee cherry is slowly dried together with the bean. In this way, the sweet pulp gives the coffee aromas and flavour. The coffee delights with a subtle hint of spice, combined with fruity notes and nuances of chocolate, macadamia and caramel.
This speciality coffee is harvested on the fertile, mineral-rich slopes of Lake Kivu, in western Rwanda. The Lake Kivu CWS (Coffee Washing Station) processed the coffee of 43 smallholder farmers in 2003. Today, the privately run CWS offers more than 2000 small producers not only fair purchase conditions, but also many other benefits such as social advantages and know-how to produce high-quality coffee.
