To make the “Kölner Zucker Hut”, which is also known in Switzerland as “Zuckerstock”, granulated sugar is moistened and pressed into the characteristic shape.

Using special tongs, you can dip the sugar loaf in brown rum and light it. The sugar melts, caramelises and drips into a vessel of spiced red wine below. A festive spectacle!
